    What's this?

    What is this piece of old metal? Looks like some kind of clamp or plug to stop up a hole in a container or something like that. Found it in Southwestern Mills County on the top bank of the Colorado river.

    Looks like a part to a old firehydrant.

      Not sure what it started out as, but somebody probably adapted it to use as an anchor.

        Sure is nice to see a pic with green grass in the background!

        It does look like a plug of some type! I have no idea of what it is used for!

          I spent 20 yrs in the Navy as a boiler tech and it looks like a handhole plug for an old boiler. The oval piece goes up in the boiler header with a gasket and the yoke piece is tightened.

                            Vale plug. We have some kinda like it at the water treatment plant. The top yoke part it tightened and the bottom flat part goes up/or down to open or plug the floor drain in the mixing basin drains.

                              inspection hole cover for a tank or boiler a gasket fits around the inside flange of the oval part.
