Extract and run the registry fix

      Then:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/down...virus/combofix (if you have avg installed, you will either have to disable it or it might be easier to uninstall it and reinstall when you are finished removing the bug

Then download and run (thorough/complete scan) malwarebytes from malwarebytes.org

Then download and run (thorough/complete scan) superantispyware from superantispyware.com

Then go to housecall.antivirus.com and download and run (thorough/complete scan) their free program

Then lastly, remove whatever antivirus program you have, reboot, go to avg.com, download and run their free software (thorough/complete scan) and keep it up to date
      try the above

yup. I agree with this guy...

Also, after that is all done IF your internet doesnt work (page cant be displayed or if it redirects you).

Go to Tools/internet options/connection's tab/lan settings... Make sure "use a proxy" is not selected. if it is then unselect it, and make sure "automatically detect settings" is selected.

then close internet and re-open. I cant rememeber if that one sets a proxy for a redirect or not...

        good luck to you.

No, buy nothing, this is all part of the scam. You can get this all cleaned up for free. You just need to do a little research.

You probably have the Win 7/Windows Security virus that has been going around. It is a particularly troubling one to remove. It will shut down other antivirus or malware removal programs that can attack it. You are probably going to have to boot to safe mode w/networking and try to kill it. All of the programs that I ran found it but could not kill it in the registry when it was on my mother's computer a couple of weeks ago.

You can try the steps in this by going into your registry and deleting it manually.

My brother took the hard drive out of my mother's computer and slaved it off of his. He ran his antivirus to scan her slaved drive and that killed it and it has been running fine.

depending on the size of the hard drive and what malware you might have on there, 1hr is not long considering.

Sometimes. If you run a complete scan it can take over an hour depending on your machine and hard drive.

We're too old for this crap Billy! When mine does these kinds of things, I just get the 12 gauge after it and buy a new one.
