crimping is really only needed for rounds that go into tubular magazines. excessive lube can dent the case walls but rarely collapses the shoulder. if the case oal is long it could be butting up inside the die. you stated it was virgin brass, if so it should be sized then trimmed and de-burred using a vld or similar tool. i don't think you have a cartridge oal issue but maybe a trimmed to length problem.

If you want to crimp it use a separate crimp die made just for crimping cause it sounds like your seating die is adjusted too far down. If your brass is not all the same length and you adjusted the die on a short piece of brass and you try to crimp a long piece your going to collaspe the shoulder.

the seat die was bent , or the seating stem that guides and seats the bullet ?
call the die manufacturer and they'll swap it out for free
