Both good machines, my bro has a miller trailblazer 302 that's a gas and.it welds great, my dad has a Lincoln Sa 250 diesel that runs.great and I have a Lincoln sa200 gas that runs great. The diesels can burn a bigger rod. If I were you Ide buy a miller diesel.

Deisels seem to be more economical on fuel use.

You will spend alot more for the diesel than gas.

Depends on your use. If I were buying a machine to go on a rig welding truck that will be used 7 days a week I would buy diesel. The diesel engines cost more initially but seem to last longer. If I were buying for ocassional use I would buy gas.

Gas is what i would buy. That diesel machine will vibrate your whole rig to pieces. If you were to come to the coast and look around, 90% of the rig welders use a gas machine.

if you are going to buy diesel, you would need to put it on a trailer

We've got a Miller Bobcat 250, its a air cooled gasser. It has a 10k watt generator, and welds great. My brother who is an ex-pipeliner/die hard lincoln fan, said he would have to consider getting one if he where still pipelining.

Only downside is the air cooled motor. When we used it during Ike, we quickly learned we should have gotten the liquid cooled diesel as we had 250 gallons of diesel sitting there, and we had to cylce it on an off to let it cool down. Meanwhile, the 4kw Terex Amida light plant (liquid cooled kubota diesel) ran for 5 days straight. Never turned it off.

                        Edit:
Ours is mounted on a trailer, with cutting rig, tool boxes & fab table....

So I need a diesel because I will use it everyday but I can't put a diesel welder on my truck?

I would go with a Lincoln welder for sure and if I was going to weld for a living I would go with a diesel.
