    Exotics In Georgetown Area?

I hunt georgetown quite often and was just wondering if anyone that hunts around that area sees any free ranging exotics? Ive been hunting there about five years now and havent seen one yet.

Yes. I hunted at Lake Georgetown last year, and I'm on a lease just north of the lake this year. I did not see anything around the lake (including hogs) last year, but I have seen some this year. I got a picture of a young Sika and a couple pics of a group (4-5) of axis at my feeder. I have yet to see any of these while hunting however. I was told that there is (or was) a high fence place NW of the lake that had exotics, so that is probably where these originated from.

I live on 3405 and see axis almost every day along the road. I see sika in a field down the road from me quite often and a black buck or two as well. A woman that lives on 183 just north of 3405 had me come down to her place and shoot a couple sikas for her, that were coming into her back yard. I killed them with a .22 as they came up quite close. She just wanted them for the meat.

River ranch is where they came from.

Most of the axis and sika around here came form a place of a guy named Eric Shields. He lived on 183 and had about 30 acres high fenced. Two axis fighting tore up a bunch of fence and most got away before he fixed the fence. The ones right around Liberty Hill came from the River Ranch.

What about Burnet area? I had an Audad at my feeder back during the summer, but that's the only exotic I've seen on the place. Any guesses where it came from?

Draco, our lease fronts 3405. Which side of Ronald Reagan are you on?

I live at the bottom of the long steep hill and am on the lake side of the road.

Well, I am hunting right across the road from you on property I believe your neighbor owns. Small world!

We had 2 or 3 axis roaming around Serenada for awhile a few years ago.

I saw 3 axis on 3405 @ Walnut Springs sub the other day.

Draco was that place on 207? If so Frank Stevenson owned it before your guy.

Quite a few years ago their was a TBH group effort to net and transport those axis for Mary Bone and family.

                          Obviously, they missed a few.

I remember going over there to help round them up. But, as luck would have it, those axis would not go close to the feed under the net. I think they ended up getting some at a later date.

I killed a Sika buck a few miles south of Burnet several years ago
