    Reshaping felt hat

Anyone reshape their own felt hat?

Went to Cavenders during Christmas- that was way too busy, so I left.

Ran into a small Western Wear shop and the lady took her time to reshape the hat. I didnt notice the back till I got home. She pointed the back down drastically as well as the sides far in (think cheesy country music star look), so I had to fix this and re-do the whole thing. First time messing with reshaping.

I used a steam clothes iron..was cool for the most part, except I brushed the hat once( little burn rash on the hat).

I dont have a steam pot- but that is an idea..any other ideas besides the iron, or am I just crazy and OCD? haha.

make a spout on any pot with foil and boil. You can get plenty of steam. Plus by some stiffener to spray on once you have shaped it. Holds better. They sell at Cavenders.

This......... if you cant find stiffener, plain ol aresol hair spray works wonders and smells good hahahahaha.

No but the pot with a foil spout works the best, just get the steam rolling and shape it to your liking

Be careful of any stiffner. It can really work havoc on your hat over time. The felt wears away much faster.

The tea pot works ok, but the issue is getting a strong enough continuous blast of steam. Make sure you leave the whole hat over the steam for about a minute before working with it. It takes a lot more steam over your stove versus the steam machine at a store. Also wave the hat back and forth through the air once you're finished to cool it off faster.
