    Z7 String Suppressors Cracked!!!

Mason and I shot a bit today and afterwards, I was waxing our strings and noticed both string suppressors on his Z7 were cracked...not just a hairline but all the way through. I immediately took them off and shot his bow...they don't appear to effect performance, just noise suppression. I inspected the same devices on my Reezen and they appear to be totally intact.

In order to get an idea of usage, Mason shoots ~dozen or more arrows every four to five days. This bow was bought new ~two years ago. I guess we will have these pieces replaced along with our strings and cables after a hunt at the Diamond C in March.

Has anyone else experienced this with their Z7? Sorry for the blurry pics - macro is not my friend.

I see literally hundreds of Mathews come through the shop every year . I have seen this on three bows now and that includes yours . Only on Z7 and DXT so far . Definitely covered under warranty no sweat . Wont effect the shot much but noise will be greater .

Shouldn't matter how many shots you take it just had a weak spot . Take it to where you bought it and they should replace it for free as long as you are original owner .

If your local dealer won't help just pm me I'll help you out .

Sorry I thought you meant the rubbers. My Bad. I would still not shoot the bow without them, because of the open mounting holes on the limb tips.

Thanks for the info Shark Attack. Mason is the original owner...he bought it with lawnmowing / chore money about a year and a half ago from Triple Edge in Dayton (http://discussions.texasbowhunter.co...2&highlight=z7).

Looks like we will be visiting Sam and his crew.

...didn't think about the open holes... Is your concern integrity / strength of the limbs or simply noise?

I did, and the shop already had replacements. I was told Mathews had a bad batch, and not shoot bow without them in place.

Yep, in the exact spot!! A buddy of mine that shoots a lot has broke 3 in the last 2 years. After a third the bow tech called Matthews and they said the limbs might not have been in spec. The replaced his Limbs and hasn't broke anymore.

Btw, I bought a z7e and they redesigned those string stops to make the spot that was breaking about twice as thick. Seems like they knew it was a issue.

I have four z7's one that has been shot exponentially more then you described.

None have a crack. I'd bet Mathews will replace.

Thanks again for all the input fellas. Mason will be using the smoke pole in Junction this weekend versus his bow. We will get the parts replaced before he shoots it again.

Tell Mase to bring the smoke pole and I will make sure that he gets the Aoudad that you have been after....oh snap, just kidding. I hope he gets it fixed soon before the Diamond C.
