In my opinion all the post above mentioned something that has lead to this change. Of course some more than others. For me, I believe media, the competitive nature of humans, greed, and just the thrill that you may only get one chance to take that buck has influenced this "change" the most.

Texas Trophy Hunters Association was founded in 1975. How many of you have witnessed/payed attention to the metamorphosis this publication has gone through?

The 36th annual Extravaganza is this year. When did you attend your first show? Mine was 25 years ago... Talk about change!
They have had a huge influence for sure. My first show was in Abilene in 1987. It's different now by a long shot.

Its really a weird situation if you stop and think about it. What other things in life are you so quick to judge, so quick to get upset over and just flat out get mad at.

We make cover stories, dont tell everyone what were seeing, affraid to share pictures in fear someone will figure out where their hunting and come poaching. I mean its really become kinda funny and Im as guilty as anyone so I cant say anything.

Was it as cutthroat as it can be today?....I can't answer that, but the quest for big horns and bragging rights were here long before the commercialization started...
We did that growing up as well! Big buck pot... I'm 35 Jason. The 20 years was through my eyes from a fifteen year old, starting to pay more attention to the world and his surrounding, till now!

My point is: Wide spread media and the promotion of the sport has led to the growth of the sport as well as it's current state!

Why do you always feel you have to throw the HF/LF thing out there?

There are probably a lot of folks that think about those things how you feel about deer...and vice versa..

At the front of the big buck movement. They are largely reponsible for higher and higher prices as well as many other thingsI wont comment on. 1st hand knowledge here...

how are they responsible for higher prices?

so they push for larger deer, which increases the chances of killing a big deer.... but somehow they have diminshed the long standing law of supply and demand?

more big deer = higher price for deer?

maybe we need to put these guys in charge of more than deer if that's true.
