    Peep verifiers not fog friendly.

Yesturday finally had my chance at 1st shot at deer. 8pt stepped out of the fog and I drew on him. Had my pins lit up as it was barely visiable daylight. Tried to settle my pin for a 30yd shot and I don't know if I breathed on it but it was all fogged up. Using the Archery Speciality hooded peep w/ verifier for my tired old eyes. All I could see was a blurry glow of the pins. Released the arrow and watched it sail right over him. Deer didn't even know what happened and slowly walked out of range. Went home and switched to a 1/4inch Meta peep. Hope this will eliminate this from happening in future.

    Shoot a recurve, no sights!
I often wondered if those things worked and have thought about using one because my eyes are getting bad as well.
Go back out and get'em on the ground, good luck

Been wanting to try one of those. I'm getting the old fart disease.

Verifiers work very well. When I started with the verifiers, I started on the lowest magnification. Gradually I had to increase the magnification. Now I am at the highest and my pins are not clear unless they are in bright sun. That pretty much nixes low light shooting as in dawn and dusk. In order not to use pins, I suppose one could wear glasses and shoot a bow with no sights.

However, at the risk of sounding sacrilegious, I am feeling more and more comfortable every year with a cross bow. My love of hunting is still very strong at 67. I still get very excited when a big set of antlers come around but antlers do not taste good, no matter how I cook them. I will take a big buck with my crossbow (see picture in my album) but I love good fat does and spikes. My table and my family loves them too.

God bless you in 2012. Go get 'em.

Oh, and I rifle and pistol hunt too. No matter what the weapon of choice for that day, it's the getting outdoors that means the most to me. I can get into it so much that I actually feel myself becoming one with the creation God has allowed me to enjoy.

Did you try removing the lens and just using the Peep with out it? I have the same and do that when it's to humid out. The housing has a 3/16" hole. Then reinstall for the evening hunt where it's usually not so humid. Or do you have the 1/4" housing?

Yes, I did remove the lens, but decided to go w/ a 1/4 inch peep. Surprisingly I can see pins fairly well and there is no low light problem.

Is there an anti fog available for the lens? I'm shooting one now, too.

My RWH has a twisted upper limb and I'm not sure how to fix it- just an excuse! Shooting trad takes a lot more commitment of practice. Maybe in 2012 .

They sell an anti-fog product for $6. Worth a try, too late on that shot unfortunately.
