Whatever you get, get as many as you can afford................hog dogs tend to have short life spans.

I've had the same 4 dogs for several years. As long as your good and have good trained dogs they'll be fine.

I've hunted hogs with dogs for over 15 years and have had up to 45 dogs at one time. I've been burnt on many so called jam up strike dogs. The type of dog for you really depends on acreage size that you are hunting on. If you are hunting on large acreage then the best breads I've found are walker/pit cross. The pit puts the grit in them on a running hog and also quiets the mouthy ness. If you are hunting small acreage then the best cross that I've found and hunted with great success is lab/ridge back cross. The lab for endurance and ridge back for nose and grit. Remember never hunt with dogs of other peoples that are crap. Dogs tend to learn from other people. I hunted mostly by myself for that reason. When I did hunt with other people I never brought young dogs in training. Pit/ridge back crosses are awesome and safe catch dogs. Just be careful about going out and buying someone's whole pack. Usually not the best ideal. Pm me if you need some experienced advise. Good luck and be careful.
