Doe on last day of 2011

Well I started hunting this season with bow back in October. I was always in the wrong place at the wrong time; wrong blind or deer were too far off. I bow hunted into rifle season and no deer. I purchased some of the Buck Candy a few weeks ago and mixed it with the corn in the feeder and hand thrown stuff. Things started to improve on sighting doe, bucks and hogs. I hunted the afternoon. I hunted the morning. I hunted when the moon was right on my phone (time to hunt) app. That app is right on the times when the deer are feeding. I'm not talking a couple of times, but through the season I sat and watched and sat and watched, well you get the picture. I found where they were coming out of the tree line on the other side of many acres of field (neighbors) and I patiently watched with my binos into the evening (no shoot) time. Yesterday afternoon I watched two bucks spar with each other until one ran off. Someone was target shooting in the far distance and to my surprise the deer didn't run off, they just avoided going toward the sound. Early fireworks weren't bothering them either. I continue to wait for the deer to come over to my feeder which went off at 4:30 pm. At 5:45 pm the deer run over to the feeder. Since it was getting dark and I couldn't really see except for an outline of the deer I just sat and watched through my binos. They continued to eat into the evening. I decided to spend the night and see if I couldn't catch them in the morning. I stay in the camper that the cows just have to rub against, going to fence it in one of these days. In the morning at 6:10 it's time to start looking for deer. They showed up for the 6:30 am corn spin. I also put some buck candy corn out the night before. There were several doe and a non shooter buck, looks just like the one in the TWPD hunting guidelines. I wait for them to move into a shooting lane and I see a doe. I aim for her, squeeze the trigger of my rifle (yes rifle) and she goes down. The others are startled and don't run off right away. I then spot a 6 to 8 point buck in the neighbor’s field. The buck decides not to stick around anymore and the others move on also. I call my husband and let him know I finally got a deer. Him and my son drive out with the truck to pick up the doe. My husband asks me "where is she" I say, "out in our field" he measures the distance of the shot and it is 200 yards. I couldn't believe it. My son says, "That was a heck of a shot Mom." Thank You Son. The new Buckmaster Nikon scope on the .243rifle helped out a lot, as well as the Buck candy. The angle and phone picture doesn't do the doe's size justice. She weighed 125lbs. That's awesome. You sound like you have had a similar season to me. Wrong place, wrong time. Glad it finally came together for you.
