I use Winchester 40gr. JHP's.So far this Winter I've killed several skunks 1 opossum,4 badgers,5 raccoons and a bobcat with them.Everything except the bobcat dropped dead in their tracks without need for a follow up shot.I shot 2 other raccoons with the Hornady 30grain V-Max and one out of the two died instantly. If you're just shootin prairie dogs and such the Hornady 30gr V-Max will increase the splatter factor a little bit.But for larger bodied critters like raccoons or badgers I prefer the heavier bullets that are capable of smashing bone and goin on through to hit the important stuff.
