Hornady Vmax or the Win. HP. I don't care for the CCI HP. The Win. bullet will give the best expansion/penetration of the 3.

CCI maximag 40grn. jacketed HP is what chuckhawks recommends, thats what i use

I'll have to track down a box of the Winchester HP's and give them a try. I have always used the CCI's because they were easy to find at Walmart. They shot OK out of my Browning,too.

The Win. HP was the least accurate of the 3 loads but we're talking 1 1/4" vs. just under 1" for the CCI and 3/4" for Vmax at 100yds. I chose the Win. bullet performance over slightly better accuracy. 22 Mag isn't my first choice for varmints but I've killed several coyotes with mine.

I use Winchester 40gr. JHP's.So far this Winter I've killed several skunks 1 opossum,4 badgers,5 raccoons and a bobcat with them.Everything except the bobcat dropped dead in their tracks without need for a follow up shot.I shot 2 other raccoons with the Hornady 30grain V-Max and one out of the two died instantly.If you're just shootin prairie dogs and such the Hornady 30gr V-Max will increase the splatter factor a little bit.But for larger bodied critters like raccoons or badgers I prefer the heavier bullets that are capable of smashing bone and goin on through to hit the important stuff.

I shoot 30 vmax now and was wanting a bigger bullet, but if it does the job than I will stay with it.
