    First crossbow kill

I really was not very excited with the crossbow my wife got me at first. After messing around with it I was ready to see what that thing would do on a hog, still cant wait to try it out on one.
Went to the lease Wednesday night to try and get a doe before season ends on Monday. Got to the ground blind Thursday morning thinking I wouldnt see a deer cause I saw a bunch driving around the lease from 10 to midnight. Around 8:00 am I saw a doe coming in. Was kind of funny cause there were three crows in the woods and when she started walking in one of the crows attacked her, was pretty crazy.
I raised up the xbow, put the crosshairs on her and let it fly..she was at 10 yards. She took off to my left and I thought I heard her crash. A minute later I saw a deer take off up the hill from the area I thought I heard her crash. I waited in the blind for a while and was scanning the area looking for my arrow cause I did not see it in her when she took off. At this point I started wondering how the hell I missed her. I got out of the blind and then a deer started blowing at me from up the hill and was convinced I flat out missed that deer. I started looking for the arrow and couldnt find it anywhere, so went to where I shot her and found blood. Looked up and she was laying 40 yards from where I shot her.
I checked her out and there was complete pass through. The arrow thing really had me baffled so I went back to look. I finally found the arrow around 20 yards from where I shot her. The broad head had cut a nice slice in one small tree and was stuck in one next to it. I was too busy looking on the ground for the arrow that I missed this.
Am pretty darn impressed with what this thing did.

Congrats ... nice shot on a nice doe. What broad head did you use? Good thing your bolt was stopped by a tree. I have seen them go 100 yards or more.

I can tell you love the bow. It's addicting, brother. This is a great opportunity to get your wife into the woods. two hunters can put twice as much meat in the freezer as one. The down side is that your wife may get addicted and she'll go hunting without you.

Was a stinger broadhead, first time I have used one of those also. I have lots of others for my compound but didnt have any 125 gr (size of tips it came with and I sighted in with) broadheads and the stingers were a decent price at cabelas. Blood trail wasnt near what I have seen from my rage 2 blade or razorbacks but it wasnt bad at all.

Glad to hear you are going to get back into hunting next year.
I have an old shoulder injury that has come back to haunt me recently so my compound days might be getting shorter, I sure hope not but am beginning to wonder if that is why she got me the crossbow.
