Polaris Mechnic HELP I got stranded

Sat. morning I ride my Sportsman 800out to the blind, No Problem. Finish hunting in the drizzle and sleet and go get on the Bike. I turned the key and nothing. No lights, no dash lights, no starter NADA. I checked the fuses under the front storage and they are all good.

I am at a loss as to what happened. Any ideas?

We had the same problem with a Polaris last weekend. After a lot of digging around the ecm Had water in it. This machine hasn't been in over ankle deep water and it Looks really hard to rain in there. It hasn't been replaced yet, but it looks like the problem.

One of my fears with my Ranger. Computer went out at home once, took two comealongs a lots of hard work to load on trailer. If it would happen in the rough no telling what it would take to recover. Possible your computer craped out too. Hope not.

We pulled the battery and took it to camp and checked it. It showed 13.5 volts. Put it on a charger and it would only charge at 1.5 amps, so apperently it is fully charged. Hooked a 12 feeder to the battery and it spun good so I beleive the battery is good (1 year old). The battery has been disconnected and connected 4 times with no change, so I believe the connections are good.

I disconnected the wiring harness from the key switch and located 1 hot wire there. We took a key switch off another bike and tried and got the same results.

Looking on the internet it appears that there maybe a main fuse but I did not locate it. The bike is at the lease and I have no service there. If I can not get ideas figured out this week to try. I will take a trailer next week and push it on the trailer to bring it home.

Check all your connections on the wiring harness under the headlight pod, also there should be some relays that are enclosed in some plastic water sealed bags under the front clip/headlight pod around the steering column area. Sometimes water/moisture can get into those and cause the relay to go bad, if there is any rust were the wire enters the sealed package it probably has water in it. Also check for chewed wire, rats, field mice, squirrels, and other critters love to chew on wires, specially when the warm, and on a cold drizzly day one could have took cover and did some chewing while you were hunting.

I did located a bag on a wire that appeared to be sealed, I will check it out more closely. I just had a thought when I got off the bike I took the seat off and turned it upside down (I typically due in wet weather) There are not many wires under the seat, most are under the front covers.

Remember I rode the bike out (about a 1 1/2) before hunting

This is gonna sound real stupid but did you check the kill switch on the handlebar opposite the starter button. Sometimes you can accidentally move the switch and nothing will work. (don't ask me how I know this)

Actually thought about after we to the battery to camp for a check. And yes when we put the battery back in, that was first on the list. It should have come to mind first based on experiences in our camp (but not any by me)

I know this is a stoopid suggestion and please don't take it as an insult, but I've got to say it because I had a hunting partner take his in to the shop with this.. But, you checked to make sure you didn't bump the kill switch right? We felt really dumb when the tech came out to help us get it off the trailer he said I he already see the problem. Flipped the switch, all the power was back and it started right up. The Tech said he sees that a lot.

Actually did check it tje second time around. Do not feel bad about asking. I have made that type of mistake and I have seen batteries run down trying to start one with the kill switch off. The Kill switch usually kills just the ignition, I have lost ALL power
