Good set up for pulling ? It is an 09 model 4x4. I pull a few times a year 20' gooseneck with 50 hp tractor and then a 32' 5th wheel travel trailer. Really do not want a diesel. If you drive one what kinda mpg you been getting with the 3.73 rear end ? Thanks in advance for your input.

I have a 2000 model Chevy 2500 with the 6.0 and 3.73 2 wheel drive. I get around 13/14 city and 17/18 highway, so you will get a liitle less with the 4x4. It's been a great truck, I'm at 270,000 miles and still running strong.
The truck pulls great but if you get a real heavy load in a hilly area, the truck will struggle a little. If you only pull a couple times a year, I think it would meet your needs.
I will be getting a new truck soon and am planning to get the same set up I have now, but in a 2009/2010.

buddy of mine had one, also an 09. It did not tow worth a crap. If you do not want a diesel DO NOT get the 6.0. Go with the 8.1 or whatever the newer larger gas motor is in a chevy. If not that then try to find a v10 ford or get a hemi. My buddy traded his off with about 35k on it and got back into a cummins. The 6.0 is great for loads that max at around 8K or pulling large loads short distances on rare occations but it is not a puller

I had a 3500 straight axle with a six inch and 35 inch tires. Had the 6.0 gas. Loved the truck got 14.5 on the highway and about 12 in town. But it would not pull my 38 ft trailer with my 75 hp Kabota tractor very well or any trailer. Sold it and got a dodge mega cab with a cummins. much better for pulling get 18 on the highway and 15 in town and pulling anything.
Javelin would be talking about my old truck. He is right would not pull at all.
