At least as good as and maybe even better glass than my Nikon Monarch and Leupold Vari X III for less money. Look up Arrowsmith here on the GS. Mike can get you hooked up for sure.

Nikon Buckmaster or for a little less a Nikon Prostaff.

Zeiss Conquest 3x9. Mid price and quality glass.

Vortex Crossfires are on sale at SWFA.com. for 99.95 plus shipping/taxes. I just ordered a 4x12x40 win adjustable objective and scope caps for under $140 shipped. Lifetime warranty and Vortex has awesome customer service. Otherwise, Nikon has my other vote. I ran them (and still do) for the past 10 years until I found Vortex 2 years ago. Good luck in your search.

Most reviews of Vortex (and the older ones I tried) have bad tunnel vision. You have to be EXACTLY in the right location or you get an annoying black ring around the sight picture. I hear how they are "just like zeiss" but I just don't see it. Are the new ones improved?

X2 - I have this on my .308 and love it. It's nice and clear, good light gathering, and seems rock solid. Yes, Vortex customer service is awesome too. You actually talk to real people if there is an issue.

I've owned probably 100 scopes in my lifetime and never once had to talk to customer service for any of them.

This is why I buy Nikon. Best bang for the buck is the new Prostaff. Buckmaster is not because you get to pay an extra $35 for having the Buckmaster name on it.
