Axis call/alarm question

After having them on our land for 5 years now and killing several, I had one look at me this morning, 50 yards out and do this bark/call and haul butt!

We have always thought it was like a location as they have never ran...

What do you say? They are doin it all around me now with axis eating at the feeder

Just like a whitetail blow from my experience with them. They'll also do it to find each other.

everytime i've ever been busted by one they do that. gives you a little scare in the dark walking to your stand and one yelps!

O yea tell me bout it... The one this morning was bedded and popped her head up and did it.....

See I have axis under the feeder eating right now... One of them is doing this sound..... Then I have some behind me somewhere doing it too.... So frigging weird

I usually get it when Ive been winded. I think they may use if for other purposes as well though. I know it will scare the mess out of you when your not ready for it!

I had a sitka deer sneak up n blow at me in the dark one morning at Quatro B. I liked to ruin my underware. Had an axis bark at me n run off at Rocky Ridge. Maybe I stink???

Yeah that is their warning. Also if you listen to them right around dark you will hear the same thing. That is how they find each other.
