Tyler used to be okay until the put medians up everywhere. Now it is backed up with 10 people at every light trying to make U-Turns. They really dropped the ball on traffic planning when they did that.

I'm just amazed that you drive from Canton to Irving every day

The problem is that it's a town of about 100,000 and the roads are designed for that size town. On any given day, there is over 250,000 people working and commuting inside the city. Add holiday shopping into the mix and it's easy to see why it's so bad. The traffic people told us that Tyler has the worst traffic per capita of any Texas city.

Its not too bad. I don't have to be at work until 7:30. I get there at 6 to avoid traffic. It's a 1 hour drive in the morning and then when I get off at 4 its 1.5 hours to get home. I avoid downtown like the plague on the way home. Loop 12 to 408 to 20 to 175. Its not bad.
