    Tracking dog

I am glad to say I finally took my first deer this season, but also sad to say I lost one. Along with others, blood trails for my dad, husband, and myself were thin to follow. The deer I found was by following the "right" trail. There was no blood until I was on top of her. All shots were perfectly placed. It baffled all of us. With the heartache of losing my first, and the difficulties of the others, I am considering adding a dog to the family. Any suggestions?

Depends on the area you hunt if they are even allowed. Sucks but East Tx doesnt allow in most of the southern counties. I will tell you the Vizsla that Atombomb here gave our family is a TRACKING beast and isnt even a yr old yet.

I would look into a lacy if you are real serious though.

We have a black & tan bloodhound named "Hambone". Besides the fact he hasn't lost a deer yet- he is by far the coolest dog to own. He's awesome looking- like the Hee Haw dog, super friendly and even though he is grown he acts like a big ole puppy. Good natured, makes us smile all the time. Loves kids and loves people in general. Neither one of us has ever owned a bloodhound before or even knew someone who did but we will always have a bloodhound after this one. Not just a tracking dog but a family member.

            Brazoria Co should be good.

Here is our Spice. Buck was a 300 yd track and a footrace. The Doe a friend shot and was a 150 yd track with a catch and release then dead deer.

Our ranch out in west texas has blue heeler that is a tracking machine.

Don't know how $erious you are but these are extremely good dogs, they ship them all over and have been breeding this line of trackers for generations.

Jack Russell Terriers. Great dogs once you let them know who is boss. Have a great nose and are great family dogs. I say again, once you let them know who is boss.
