    New Years eve attire question

Ok so I have a new years party at the Ritz Carlton in Dallas. I am a guy who only wears shorts and golf shirts fron March till October, then boots and jeans. I have a double breasted suit from 20 years ago that is in good shape actually, navy blue with subtle white pin stripes and cuffed pants on the bottom. I tried it on and fits. I don't work in an environment where business or formal dress is an issue and don't know if double breasted suits are in style or are people gonna look at me like a dweeb. Oh and I am taking a date and she is hot!! Any suggestions?

What kind of party is it and who is putting it on? I think double breasted may be a little much myself

Wear the suit but get her drunk fast and split

Or, just ditch thamcoat when you get there.

You could always rent something to be on the safe side.

5 years is too old for suits. Donate it so you aren't tempted to wear it.

you don't need one at the RC for new years anyway.

slacks, boots, with a button down is perfect.

Suit is out of style. Go by some black slacks and a nice button down. Youll be set. Good luck.

If it's a party hosted by the Ritz, call them and ask about proper attire. If hosted by someone else, call and find out. If formal, then rent a tux. Women see men in suits everyday, but a fella who is usually in boots and jeans or golf shorts and tshirts who show up in a nice tuxedo will make their drawers fall off. Good luck. BTW...this advice was confirmed by my lovely wife....not just some ole redneck like me.

Well I like the idea of drawers falling off, it is a company party at the Ritz

No need for a tux. A double breasted suit is fine, but a 20 yr old suit of any kind is most likely outdated. And realistically, a single breasted is a bit more the trend these days. I would wear a nice pair of charcoal grey or black slacks and a nicely pressed button up shirt....don't necessarily need a suit. I live about 2 miles from the Ritz in Dallas so I'm somewhat qualified

If you do want to wear a suit (which would be great if everyone else is) go by Joseph A Bank or Men's Warehouse and get a cheap (but up to date) one...they can tailor it to fit you and make it look nice.

Unless it is a costume party, leave the double breasted suit at home. If your girl is that hot and you want a 2nd date, put the effort into looking your best! Good luck

Just go buy a jacket from men's warehouse and some nice cinch jeans from cavenders (get those starched) and a solid white button up to wear under the jacket, and a nice felt hat and your boots. Heck id go in that, that's what we consider formal round here.

nice pair of dark grey slacks and a pressed black button down and your set for anything short of a wedding.......especially a new years eve party.

On a side note what kind of company has a party on new years eve? more of a time to be with the people you want rather than the people you work with.

NY Eve at the Ritz Carlton....dress to impress..dont be that guy, you will feel very underdressed if you arent wearing a suit...best bet is the newer style tuxedo dinner jacket with a traditional silver or tone on tone shirt/tie combo, no more bow ties, thats for high school kids...if its an invitation only party check the invite it probably says the type of dress...semi formal minimum

if your date is hottttt and she goes all out with a nice dress, you are going to feel like that guy everyone talks about at the water cooler next week

                            dont say you werent warned

you will never be under dressed in something like this

Who cares about a suit that Patrick Swayze would have worn in 1988

Let's see pics of the young filly
