Just a word about Cuddeback cameras

I have been using Cuddeback cameras for over ten years, and have really enjoyed the fact that they trigger very fast and have really long battery life. Like most companies, however, they got too big and product quality has really gone down hill. I estimate our failure rate at about 33% per year now, and we own six of them. After the warranty period (6-12 months) they will send you a refurbished camera for $75 plus shipping (this is the same camera that Bass Pro recently had on sale for $100) or you can exchange your bad camera for the newest model for $150 plus shipping. I really used to spout their virtues, but their products have really become unreliable, and the cost of keeping functional ones is getting too expensive. I hate to say this, but I'll have to look elsewhere for my next one.

I Have gone through alot of cmaeras over the past 7 years, Leaf River, Stealth, Cudde, and this past January I switched to Spypoint. After reading alot of reviews and chasingame.com, I bought 2 of them. They have been absolutely the best cameras I have ever had. They also update their firware constantly so they are always working to increase the performance of the cameras. Unless they go to poop also I am hooked on them.

I have one of the Attack IR's, and the way that it stores photos on the card, you can't just flip through them like you could on the old format. You have to go to a third part software, and, frankly, it's a pain in the ***.

Ovalo, just call them and give them the info on your old Cudde and they will produce a RMA number for you to send it back to them. They charge $150 + $10 shipping and send you a brand new Attack. I have gotten each of mine back within a week or so. They do usually send back an IR for IR and flash for flash, but you can get an exception if you want to send in an IR and get a flash back.

btw, the new Attacks have an 18 month warranty as opposed to the 12 month on the old models.

I do not recommend the IR's, don't care for IR pics and have no experience with the new IR cameras. The one and only IR camera I own is one Cudde No Flash that is still kickin after quite a few years. That is how I know about the IR to Flash exception, cause I asked about sending it in on a new one.

My experience with cudde captures has been the same as the original poster's but only starting this past summer in the heat. 2 of 3 dead and swapped at Cabelas--one for an attack that was dead the 2nd night, back for a Moultrie M-80 that died the 2nd night also, and now I have Primos 60 cams. So far no glitches. My 3rd cudde got water inside the case in the past 2 weeks and it is sitting on the kitchen counter drying out. We'll see--


And, I don't like the IR pics either, and the Primos 60 usually makes a sound just before it snaps the pic resulting in bucks jerking their head towards the camera thus making the picture blurry and hard to evaluate their racks.

I've got a half doz Captures and IR's that do not work at all anymore. I have contacted "Non-Typical" to see about getting them fixed and they have told me to send them 100 bucks ea for some diagnostics testing to see what's wrong and then they will contact me asking me what I want to do about them. I think not!!!!!!!!!!

The Cuddy IR has a defect in the IR. I put one out in KS and all the night pics were black. I contacted CB and they said they were aware of the prob and to send it back (at my cost) and they would fix it for free. Wow. Also they were going to throw in a new fancy strap, a $19 value and send it back to me. I explained that I was 8 1/2 hours away from the camera and to go up, get it, ship it, and take it back to the lease would cost me more in fuel than the cost of the camera. They didn't care. Just said sorry. I also ask if there was a way to turn off the night pics. Nope. I ask if they could send me a loaner camera since it was in the middle of hunting season. Nope. There are too many good products on the market to put up with a company that has a defective product but won't take care of their customers.

Anybody who doesn't want their old cudde's, send them to me. I would be more than happy to get a new one minus $160. Maybe I have been lucky, but I have yet to find a single cudde CS rep who was not very cordial and helpful.
