Yes, they are considered a rodent. Most ranchers want people to shoot them, too.

i poked him with my arrow until he fell out of the tree. he came back a second time so i let him stay. they won't bother you to much

we have a few of the free choice trough feeders. the porcupines get up in there and some of the quills shed in the feed. we killed about 4-5 of em last summer. i wouldnt try to mount one, ouch!
