Total price of CHL

Ok......looking to get my CHL. Just wondering how much I can expect to spend for the class and all my fees. Anyone have a dollar amount for me?

That's about how much I paid for mine. My class was $125.00, plus fingerprint fee ($10.00?) at DPS office, plus $140.00 for the paperwork. So, approx. $275.00 give or take.

Wow, Texas is so expensive. When I was stationed in Spokane WA it was only $24 and was good for 5 years if my memory is working right.

You can find the class cheaper. I have seen it for like $50 for just the class.

a lot of the classes don't do the fingerprints anymore. they have to be done digitally. if you go to the DPS website it will tell you where to go to get your prints. then just go to CVS/Walgreens to get passport photos. $140 to the state for liscense and then whatever the class cost.

My grandad is an instructor and he charges $100 for the class and that used to include your fingerprints and photos but now you have to go into a certain place to get your fingerprints done. But he still does the pictures and thats included in his price. And then like said above the $140 to the state. He has a deal to where if you get a group of five together he will do yours half off or if you get a group of ten he will do yours free! .. And a lot of times with those cheap classes there are some hidden fees and stuff, like having to buy bullets from them, range fees, and so on
