I forgot how much of a whipping it is to........

Cook out a deer skull and get all of the tissue off.

The big stuff came off fairly easy.

The little stuff in all of the cracks and crevices on the underside not so much. Mostly between the back of the nasal cavity and the foramen magnum (hole where the brain stem/spinal cord comes out)

It had been soaking for a couple of days in some dawn and water. I cleaned it as best as I could and hung it up to dry to see if the little junk will come off any easier when dry. Picked at it with a big set of tweezers, a filet knife and a scalpel for about an hour this afternoon and still has lots of gristle and tissue in all of the cracks and crevices. I am thinking some of those dental tools they clean your teeth with would work good but I don't have any.

Picks will work well. When you boiled out your skull what did you use? I use sal soda on my last one and it pretty much turned the flesh into a jelly like substance that came off pretty easily.

Pressure wash it. That will blast it all away

leave it in a tub of water for about 2 months then rinse it off with the hose let it dru and bleach it takes longer but no work involved. just keep it down wind from house if it is summer time.

                        Compressed air works wonders, too.

It does suck. I've got 5 going right now and about 5 or 6 more in the freezer. It's a good thing they look cool when you finish them.

$35 plastic skull kit at Academy. 15 minutes and I'm done.
