That is a very good answer! Big, really big Red Stags are gonna run you some big time $$$. Axis and Fallow gold medals can run up to $3K. Or more.

I've never shot any of them, but I love the way a big axis looks. Just something about them,

        and

by the way - I have eaten axis, and they are excellent table fare !!!!!!!!!!

I would go Axis. They taste so good. They have big antlers and a nice phelt.

Stag will be 1000s more. Good axis 30 inch plus main beams, fallow 6inch palms.

I have shot all three. To do it again, red stag would be at the bottom of the list. Axis, IMO, are the most beautiful and graceful animals to watch. That said, if a HUGE fallow with GIANT palmations came out, that would be a hard call. Coin toss as far as axis/fallow.

                Good luck!

I would do fallow or red stag. A big stag will cost you a lot more, but they are very good looking. Axis just don't do it for me. They're cool looking, but not at the top of my list. Not sure where you are going, but if they don't have really good stag (300"+) I would pass. Same with fallow, if they don't have fallow with a solid 6 or 7" palm I would pass. I would shoot an axis before I shot a small fallow or stag. I think fallow are ugly if they don't have good palms. Just like a stag without good mass and crowns is ugly. A little axis looks a lot better than a little fallow or stag.

Its all about how much you want to pay. Axis will be your cheaper hunt, but if that doesnt matter shoot the one you want the most. Axis taste good, but im sure red stag will too. If you want a big red look for width, hight, and lots of crowning. Axis deep forks, tine length and length of main beams. And look at mass on any animal. (imo)

Frankly, keep your options open and take the best animal you get an opportunity at. Unless it's a heavily stocked place, you could easily overestimate how much of a choice you'll have.

Axis - 30+ in Mainbeams (horns should stick well over shoulders when head down and feeding) with good tine length.

Fallow - Palms should be bigger than your hand with all fingers fully extended - real big ones will be 2 hands stacked ontop of one another.

Stag - 36in Mainbeams, at least 6 solid points per side, and MASS like an elk.

Axis, Stag, and Fallow in that order

I would go Axis for sure
Then Stag - as long as it was big enough to have nice crowns
Then Fallow - it would have to be a big fallow for me to kill it
