    GRRRRR. Moultrie CS

I just got off the phone with Moultrie Customer Service about my I-40 camera's lcd screen going out again. I say again because it has happened 3x already, and they have replaced it under warranty each time. Every time it has gone out in less than 12month including this time. Why am I upset then you ask? Well this time they are choosing not to honor a warranty because the model has been discontinued. They have lcd screens they will happily sell me though. This upsets me. They are very aware of the quality problems and have been fantastic to date in dealing with this. I told the floor supervisor that I was not interested in paying any money towards a unit that clearly has been and will likey continue to be problematic. I mentioned the correct thing would be to upgrade me into a new camera or warranty this one once again. He didnt agree. He told me I could have a new camera at employee price, or pay for a new lcd screen. I am the Customer Service/Warranty manager for my company (he knew this) and I would NEVER expect a customer to pay out of pocket for anything if we had not been able to fix his problems or make him happy in three attempts. He just didnt get it. I made it clear my money was better spent on a competitors product and he was ok with that as well. Really! He said OK when I told him exactly that.

So? I want a good camera under $150. Any recommendations?

Moultrie M-80. You're probably gun shy on Moultrie right now, but I like the M-80 I'm running.

I have gone through the same thing. I am now on the 4th unit. I just send it back each time with a nasty note, I do not bother to call them. This last time I got an I90 back. Looks like the I40 and yep 6 months old and display going out. I will keep sending it back at the 10th month mark for a replacement. After season is over I will look for a deal on a Bushnell Trophy cam.
I will never purchase a Moultrie product again.

I don't know of any good trail cameras under $150. I have friends who have a lease and all 9 of them decided to buy Moultrie trail cameras. All 9 have been replaced. All of the replacements have been replaced. Half of those have been replaced. Moultrie just makes cheap stuff. CuddeBack or that new Leupold camera is the way to go. But of course, anything can break. You might try putting pressure on the retailer you bought it from. Good luck.

I've had the same problems in the past. After being VERY frustrated with the quality of moultrie, I switched to Bushnell this year and all cameras are working perfectly, and have taken great pictures. Might give one of those a try if you're looking for a different brand...

They did the same thing to me. I will never buy, nor recommend a Moultrie product again for as long as I live. I could understand the warranty ending if it wasn't a design defect. But since it is, they have lost my busines forever! Someone e-mail them a link to this thread!

I've sworn of all moultrie products a long time ago. I don't care how great your C'S is. If the product is crap, your wasting my time.

I am gonna ask a dumb question here, but does the camera completely quit when the screen goes out, or can you just not tell how charged the battery is and how many pics it has taken?

The camera still works, but you can't change the settings. When the batteries go dead the camera resets to default. You cant set the time or delay or anything else. Can't tell how the batteries are either.
