    feeding all year

I have been pondering on wether the run the feeder all year or just from august to january. Do any of you have better luck getting the larger deer to come into the feeder regularly when feeding all year?

Get a free choice protein feeder and keep it going 24/7.

I run mine till the run out in Feb., I pull all my feeders down and store them and do maintanance on them in the off season. The deer will find it just fine next year.

I have been feeding year-round for the past 10 years--down in LaSalle county it was to keep the pigs coming for the day-lease hunters. Here in Guadalupe county, it's to keep the deer used to coming. I turn 'em down to shorter spin times and only feed 1x per day though. Spin 'em back up in mid-August. Corn bill is high, but since my lease is free, I just do it.

If your wanting to feed year around I would be feeding protein in the spring and summer for sure, especially with the cost of corn now.

I feed protein and corn year round. I always have game year around at my feed pens. If its a nice afternoon in the spring, I can hop in one of my stands and whack a pig or just watch the game - deer, birds, pigs, squirrels, coons, etc.

Having seen both methods, I do not believe it makes a big enough difference for the cost difference. Unless you are shooting year round for hogs and such.

I fed year round this year and didn't notice a difference in game activity. Only difference I noticed is my pockets was a lot smaller that's for sure with the price of corn and running 6 feeders. I will not be feeding year round anymore. Unless your feeding protein but regular corn feeders nah.. Its a waste of money if your not hunting hogs year round.

O I feed all year long, but I haven't seen a deer at a feeder yet! East tx thang I guess. The pigs come through at night and clean up what the squirrels don't, but it's available if they want it

We fed protein from June to the end of September and started corn. We will begin our protein as soon as season ends and continue all the way through the year in the future. The deer took to the protein in a big way last year on our place.

Feed corn year round.Throw 2 times a day in the off season,vs.3 times during huntin' season.I'm sure they'd find it if I didn't though.
