    Stiff Carhartt Jacket!

Besides wearing it and working in it is there anything I can do about my carhartt jacket being so stiff?
My wife bought a very nice quilted lined one for me but man is it uncomfortable! I had one back in the day, same style, and it was super comfy but this one just isn't. Seems like the one i had before was soft and comfortable right from the store, but that was like 12 years ago...
I don't want to dissapoint her and not were it, plus I like it a lot, but it's so stiff that its to uncomfortable to wear!
Wash in something different than regular detergent or put in the washer with a bunch of marbles or...? Any help guys and gals??

I had one with the wool lining. I washed it nearly every time I did laundry, dirty or not. Doesn't take long. The color will start to fade and it will loosen up. I wore that sucker till it was falling apart.

Wash and dry it with a pair of tennis shoes will help.

Ten4. Just threw it in the washer again, with lot of fabric softener this time. I'm gonna throw it in the dryer later with some old shoes or boots I have.
            Any other tips?

put your big boy pants on..... Just kidding. Mine is working in reverse. It seems to be getting more stiff. But its cause I am filling it up a little more year after year. Getting had to breath with that thing on and zipped up. I look like a sausage.

Throw 1/2 dozen baseballs in the dryer with it.

Don't dry it on hot, use a cool setting. Will take longer to dry, but it will help the weave of the fabric stay "relaxed" instead of drawing back up tight. The tennis shoe idea sounds good.

For that "worn" look and feel, the best thing is to drag it behind your truck for a few days!!!

I've had one for 7 yrs and it can still stand in the corner by itself. Grant it, I don't wear it because of that. I'm along for the ride on this one.

Lol. I'll pass but I was waiting for your input. You seem like the kinda guy that can go thru a carhartt or two...

                            I'll have to try this...

Plan A failed Washed it with lots of fabric softener then I thought 'well if a shoe will work then a boot will really work'. WRONG! Ruined my dryer. Guess too much weight banging around cause the dang dryer won't turn anymore! Wife is ticked and still got a stuff jacket! Lmao
Now I have to buy a new dryer Monday (that'll turn her frown upside down). So I'll try to dry on cool and see if that works.

A couple of weeks ago I ran mine through the washing machine 4 times back to back with Downy on a gentle cycle. I then dried it on low.

I then hung it outside for several days to get rid of the "Downy Fresh" smell, but the jacket is no longer stiff and a little faded and worn looking. It's a tremendous improvement.
