PSE Tac-15

Hey fellas,

I am looking at buying my wife a crossbow. She has a bad shoulder and can't handle the compound draw very well.

Have any of you ever shot a PSE Tac-15??

If so, reviews on performance would be appreciated.

Also, do any of you have a recommendations for what brand and model to get otherwise?

My wife is very happy with her new Wicked Ridge Invader. She is 5' tall and has to stick the rear of the stock under her arm to cock it, but has no trouble pulling the 180lb back, and is able to reach everything fine for shooting.
Personally, I'm dying for a tac15 for myself.

This guy nails a shot at 100yds with the tac15...awesome looking bow.

@ $1400 for the upper and $300 for the lower recvr group = $1700 total


my suggestion, buy her a mid-level xbow package for < $500 and be done with it. She may only end up shooting it 5-10 x's per year. If she doesn't like it, then you can re-sell to recoup your $$$

Yeah, but you are not accounting for the cool factor of the TAC-15.

OK, I hate to be the bad guy but, I had one and I sold it. I had one of the first ones so maybe that has something to do with it but, mine would not shoot worth a flip.

Inside 30 yards no problem it shot lights out and would tear arrows up with any head. Move to 40 yards and it was a 2.5-3" group. Past 40yards it was a crap shoot. At 60yards I was luck to hit the rhinehart target with every arrow.

I tried multiple lowers. Timney, Jewel and self made trigger groups. I sent it back to PSE. I took it to Ken Witt and we timed it, shot it through paper, swapped out whisker bisquits and put a rebuild kit on the string. No dice.

I tried field points which are not quite as bad as fixed heads. I could never get a fixed head to fly worth a crap. Shuttle T, Phat heads, SteelForce, Muzzy, Slick Trick, Wasp, Rocket etc. I tried probably 30 kinds of heads with no help.

I tried expensive Zeiss and Leupold scopes and also tried some really cheapies because a rep at the SHOT show recommended them to me. No luck.

I did shoot 1 doe with it at 15 yards, right between the eyes with a phat head broadhead and it was just gross!

It was cool, it was fast, it was heavy and totally impractical but, it was cool. I just got bored with cool because I like to shoot stuff.

I am not really familiar with xbows but, I have shot a few and I really don't like any of them and past 40 yards they are all suspect to me but, my favorite so far has been a ten point. It was decent all around. I killed a buck on a TV show a few years back with it at 45 yards but, it was a lucky deal. You could see the arrow fish tailing bad if you slow it down!

So my take it, buy a cross bow that is a cross bow and you probably won't be as disappointed.

complete assembled upper & lower 9 lbs. (without optics)

My father-in-law has one and he loves it. His is accurate @ 100 yds. His limbs did break one time but he took it back where he bought it in Stephenville and they replaced the limbs. I have shot it and it is awesome. A little pricey for me but if you have $1800 to spend and want it bad, I say get it.

Tenpoint makes good crossbows. The turbo is a nice one.
