    Coke County

Anybody hunt in Coke County lately? Headed out to the lease this weekend. First time since October, so just wanted to see if the deer were moving.

But, you can't hunt 'em from home! Good luck!

Good deal. Thats the guy I'm after. Driving to Midland Thursday night to stay with the folks and thinking about doing an all day sit Friday with my bro. Looks like it's gonna be a bit chili, so hopefully we'll see some movement.

This is our first year out there. My dad and brother have hunted it more than I have, seeing as though it's easier for them to get there from Midland that it is for me from San Antonio. From Beaumont you're probably looking at 8 hours or so.

                    Newbie in Coke County

Hey Guys -- I'm new to deer hunting, made first deer hunt at a friend's place in Coke County 2nd weekend of December, 2011. Had a wonderful time, and now I'm hooked! But .. seems I started in a slow year. Group of 6 hunted most of a week, for 1 5 1/2 y.o. 7 pt, and lots of does and turkey. I live in LA, and took advantage of long weekend of Mardi Gras to do spend 3 days working there, and scouting the place. Planning to be there for a long weekend before thanksgiving, and again in Dec. Reading all of your posts has been a big help. Yesterday, Google earth updated images for Coke County. Much better resolution, from 2/21/12. Larger game trails are visible, and that is helping me learn / plan for my 2nd season. If anyone else uses Google Earth to study their hunting spot, check it out. We hunt between Bronte and Blackwell. Curious as to how close some of you might be, so maybe we can compare notes. Here's to hopinig and planning for a great season.
