    Computer help !

I can't get on thb from my computer. Been doing it for a while and I can't seem to fix it. I've ran ccleaner and avast in reg mode and safe mode and it didn't find anything. It's not just thb but random sites.

I think we may need more info:

      What operating system?
      How old is your computer?
Are you using IE or Mozilla (firefox)

Have you done all the updates to windows?

Are your security certificates causing the issue?
      What kind of firewall?

What are the other random sites you cannot look at?

When you CCleaned did you do the quick one or the deep one?

Do you have malware bites and if not get it and run it.

Can you get to TBH in safemode? I know you stated that you ran the programs in safemode.

Is it at work. I manage an internet filter, and it sounds like you got cut off if you can get there thru a proxy. Just a thought

          Yes

          Polaris.com comes to mind.

Did both ccleaners in safe mode.

          Ill try malware bites

Not sure if you have permissions to do this on your work computer, but go

Start > Run > type cmd
then in the prompt type ipconfig /flushdns

then try opening tbh and polaris.

I'll try it when the malware bites finishes.

try going to 209.191.122.70 (yahoo.com) and see if you can get there that way. TBH is 66.150.138.251 That way you see if your DNS is the issue just in case.

Check the host file and see if it was written to blocking TBH and other sites.
                        Location of it:
                        c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
                        * you may have to make hidden or protected files visible to find it.
                        Instructions for this:
                        Windows XP and Windows 2003

To enable the viewing of Hidden files follow these steps:

Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
Double-click on the My Computer icon.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
After the new window appears select the View tab.
Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders.
Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide file extensions for known file types.
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.
Press the Apply button and then the OK button and shutdown My Computer.
Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files.

If any sites address is in this file it routes it to the local machine. So you get a not found page.
In the file is you see Example - the following entry 127.0.0.1 texasbowhunter.com
Just delete that line and any other lines for site you want to access.

So spyware/adware removal tools write to the host file to block sites. Some call it immunization.

Also since this is work they could of filtered the address's with hardware. But I don't think that's the case since a proxy worked.
