    Using decoys

First, I would like to say that I've been sandbagging on this site for quite a while and I finally registered. I've really enjoyed reading the various discussions and the hunting reports. I've even spotted a couple of TBH bumper stickers while driving around. I figured I would poll the members on using decoys and I was wondering if anyone here uses them. If so, do you prefer using does or bucks and why?

    Welcome.

Doncom seems to be the authority here on using decoys.

Jason...I heard Don was shooting those arrows at that buck instead of the doe....can you confirm this info?

krayk9cop...welcome to the campfire. Hopefully, you will get a straight answer to your question. Lots of wiseacres on here...myself, I can't stand a smartarse!

I haven't actually used a decoy but been thinking about it.

        Good one, Jason.

Don't listen to Grumpy. Sorry for the hi-jack. I hear good things about decoys and have been meaning to try it out. I had in mind , using a standing buck and a bedded doe and do the rattle/grunt sequence.

That's the same scenario I was looking at too. I've been told that the buck decoy will draw the dominant buck out but the doe decoy will spook the does when they're used seperately. Thanks for the reply.

My good friend who uses decoys a lot says to use two bucks and doe. He has a lot of success and the key is the right setup. Have the doe bedded down and bucks facing her. Create a small barrier behind the bucks so the buck will have to approach the doe from behind and still be facing the buck decoys.

I have two Renzo decoys buck and doe and I tried them at Hagerman. No luck, but that doesn't mean anything. I will buy another buck decoy for next year and see what happens
