    Gun Identification Help

Can anyone help identify this gun. Supposedly came from Japanese soldier in WWII. No marking on the gun or barrel. Barrel diameter is small yet cartridge size from magazine looks good size.

easiest way to find out :

take a chamber casting using cerrosafe .... this will give you an idea of the cartridge and caliber

then you can do some i-net research on gun manufacturers during this WW era

Germany and Italy formed the Axis of Powers during WWII and were allies to Japan , perhaps this gun has some German or Italian origin

another suggestion, take it to a gunshow and find some firearm historians who may know

          edit : good call Rubydog

It is a Japanese 7.7 or 6.5 Still has the dust cover on the bolt. Depending on shape there is some interest in them by WW II collectors

They are really good actions. The cartridge is really hard find. I have one that is a wall hanger.
