For those of you that are saying the plane crash and deaths the day of the ISU game didn't have any effect on the OSU team... Well, you never played college sports or any sports at a high level.

That event was a massive distraction. Maybe only for 30 min for some, an hour for others... A few guys were devastated. They intimately knew the coach and those with her. The OSU campus is small and very tight knit. Needless to say, the tragedies took them out of focus for a certain amount of time. That lack of mental preparedness hurts a team.

Second, you don't know the many tragedies that have impacted OSU in recent years. There are still people involved with the program that lost team mates in a bus crash that happened in the 80's, the plane crash that killed 5 baseball players in the 90's, then the 2001 plane crash that killed 10 players on the basketball team. Now this one.

The crash of 2001 has family ties to 3 players and 3 staff members and a coach on this years football team. You loose a brother like that... It's tough.

Please do not discount that tragic events impact a program when looking at the ISU loss.

You forgot one thing...Texas should have played Florida in 2008, NOT OU.

FACT, Texas is the only one of the top 6-8 programs of all time to NEVER get a shot at a BCS title with one loss. Yet others have titles with 2 losses and yet others get rematches.

All of their losses but one came to top 15 BCS teams.

Texas should get a shot at LSU...they have more quality losses than Bama.

The longhorns have a fantastic program. Great fans, top recruiting classes, tv, money and facilities.

Mrddye, do you have a link to that strength of schedule,, I've been looking for a site, but not one of them have the same rankings, each site I find is totally different with different teams and conferences

Maybe it is because the big 12 gets over rated? Heck they even had a really weak team still ranked in the top 25 who barely won last week and got beat bad this week.

I don't think so... suppossed to based on computer power rankings, adds up all the teams on your schedule based on that ranking and the highest number is number one, two, etc. Not sure how politics could get envolved unless the Big12 gets "Extra" points from the programs makers (crazier things have happened)
