    Transfer case fluid?

I'm trying to figure out what fluid to put in my transfer case. The truck is a 07 GMC 2500, old body style. I looked in the manual and it just gives a GM part #. I went to Oreilys and was told their computer didn't tell them what I needed and no one there knew. Any help would be helpfull as I am going to change all fluids this weekend. Thanks.

Only Dexron-III if its manual shift 4wd. If its elwctronic, go get the fluid from your dealer. With that new of a truck and the minimal times you'd need to change the t-case fluid, its worth paying the extra $ to get the manufacturer suggested fluid.

Dextron VI is one you need.

Both t-cases on the 01-07 hd's, whether floor shift or push button, are manual.

You do not want to ruin it by putting the wrong fluid in it. If you aren't 100% sure it's the right fluid, buy it from the Chevy dealer.

This is only for the 246 case, not available in this platform, only the lighter duty trucks.

This is what I was thinkin too. You only need the blue dealership stuff if it has the Auto option on the push buttons...Never seen an HD that had one.

Post up the part #. Someone here can cross reference it.

Some take ATF, others take gear oil.
