I saw this deer during the 2009 hunting season and liked the way he looked, the shape of his horns, the length and noticed that he had a "bobbed" tail and so we named him "Bob". We were going to watch this deer in the years to come. He was a 9 point and I figured probably about 4.5 years old.

In the 2010 season "Bob" had switched blinds and was coming to a different setup, he was now a 10 point, and was an infrequent visitor anywhere with a camera. The following pics are a couple from a lot that I have, but the only good ones. I hunted this deer all last season and only saw him from a blind on the LAST day of buck season and spooked him when I drew my bow, sheesh, all the luck. So, it is obvious that "Bob" was definitely on my hit lsit for 2011.

Unusually I found both of "Bob's" sheds this year, amazing for the hill country, and measured him at 139 with a 15 inch spread, not too bad for a Mason co. deer, especially with a bow.

This year , 2011, "Bob" was on my "hit list" and he and the deer in my avatar were the top two, the first one I got a shot at was going to be "the one".
"Bob" was better this year despite the drought, an 11 point with good tine length and good brow tines, I figured him between 140 and 145 this year.
Well, as luck would have it, I harvested the avatar deer in October, a good one, that will probably score about 160, but my son that lives in Dallas, and only gets to come a couple of times a year shold have a good chance at "Bob"

Well, Jason, my son came to the lease on the second weekend of the season and we reviewed the trail camera pictures on the previous week, "Bob" had been there every morning and every evening, except Thursday afternoon.
Jason hunted Friday afternoon and didn't see him, but we were encouraged about "Bob" showing up Saturday morning.
Well, I'm sitting in another blind and waiting for a text saying tha Jason had shot "Bob". but the text I got said " Bob is here, but he has broken off about half of his left G2, his right G4, and his right brow tine, I think I'm gonna let him walk and go find a girlfriend".
So that's how it goes in deer hunting, even the best laid plans don't always come out working as planned. The following pictures show "Bob" with a nasty cut under his right eye and I though he could have been blinded by the fight, but I saw him in person the following weekend and it was open and apparently healing fine.

Sorry, but the last picture is pre-fight and I can't figure out how to move it.
