Water heater issue - need help

It appears one of our water heaters is not working. The pilot stays lit but it doesn't seem to be coming on. I can crank it to full hot and nothing happens (that I can hear). The other one jumps to life (I can hear it fire up) when I crank it to full hot.

    Suggestions?

Sounds like bad gas valve or stat, which is all in one unit.

Change out the temp generator/thermocoupler and things should go back to working. If they are faulty, they will not allow the gas valve to open.

After lighting pilot did you turn the gas valve from pilot to on?

This is a wise man, listen to him. Don't want to mess with gas or electriciy if you are unsure.

Gas water heaters rate nearly as high as garage door springs. Get a plumber.
