    E Tex Hunt

I spent my 7 day long change at the lease.Hunted everyday most of the day.
Thursday I was going home after the morning hunt.So far I had not seen a single deer or hog.Well thursday my alarm went off at 5:00 i rolled over and almost went back to sleep.I was tired of not seeing any animals. But I got up and went out.6:30 I had a doe at 20 yds got my gun ready and pulled the trigger (click) forgot to load .she ran about 40 yds and stopped broad side in my lane I loaded shot and she ran maybe 10 ft and was down.
I know it was just a doe but I was happier than a gopher in soft dirt
Last deer shot was 2 years ago East tex is hard hunting

    Sorry for the long rant

Sometimes its hard to keep focused when the animals wont show up. Hence forgetting to load the gun Glad you finally got a little luck and a deer down.
Way to stick with it with under such adversity
    Congrats

I grew up in west Texas and have lived in east tx for past five years. It's definitely harder to hunt east tx. Congrats on the deer.

East texas has always been hard hunting. Welcome to the woods I love it. It's not going out and being able to see for thousands of yards. I'm tired of all the crying and complaining about east Texas. Its what real hunting should be like. Not show up at your stand with 10 deer tied up in a feed pen saying shoot me.

I hunt in Newton County and I know it is hard hunting, but I saw a lot of deer in my hunting club, killed a doe and had other chances for smaller deer. I agree that it is some of the hardest deer to hunt and you must have patience of steel!!!!

Try Hunting Public Land...its even harder to hunt.. no sitting over feeders thats for sure but lots of deer if you look and work through out the off seasn to find a good area.

                  Congrats on the nanny goat!
                  E. Texas hunter/resident here as well.......I've seen 1 deer and 0 hogs since rifle opener and 2 deer and one hog total since the bow opener here. Next month I will start public land, there are ZERO living animals on my land this year due to drought and cattle.

                              Congrats on putting one down.

I've got a few acres in about the same area your "hunt in" location describes, I'm close to Roganville. Where abouts are you?

I've hunted about 6 times on my place and have yet to have a deer present itself. Saturday before Halloween as I was leaving my stand I had 4-5 does coming across my neighbor's field toward my food plot. If it would have been gun season I could have waited for them to cross on to my property, but they watched me walk away with my bow in hand.
