i was wondering if anyone on here had a 870 supermag and could messure the plug in it and let me know how long it is i picked up a gun and has no plug in it have a pencil in it for the morning hunt but want to get a plug that fits it right

put 2 of your shells up against it and cut it 1/4" longer. Then try it, just to make sure you can't get more than 2 shells in the magazine tube.

i have done that but right now dont have any 3.5" shells and dont want to have to redo it when i get them

be careful using a pencil. it needs to be wider than the spring cap hole.

a plug must be a one-piece filler that cannot be removed without disassembling the gun.

if you can slip it in out of the spring cap hole that they don't consider that disassembling....

i agree but i watched a guy get a ticket for using a pencil once.

Illegal hunting methods. You cannot hunt waterfowl:

With a trap, snare, net, rifle, pistol, swivel gun, shotgun larger than 10 gauge, punt gun, battery gun, machine gun, fish hook, poison, drug, explosive, or stupefying substance.
From a sink box or any other low floating device that conceals you beneath the surface of the water.
From a motorboat or sailboat, unless you shut the motor off or furl the sail and the vessel is no longer in motion.
Using live birds as decoys.
While possessing any shot other than approved nontoxic shot.
From or by means, aid, or use of any motor vehicle, motor-driven land conveyance, or aircraft (if you are a paraplegic or are missing one or both legs, you may hunt from a stationary car or other stationary motor-driven land vehicle or conveyance).
Using recorded or electrically amplified bird calls or sounds, or imitations of these calls and sounds.
With a shotgun that can hold more than three shells, unless you plug it with a one-piece filler that cannot be removed without disassembling the gun.

well i actually have a perment marker in there for the time being have to pull the cap off to get it in or out but thanks for all the help

i have never had a warden check what kind of plug i had. just checked to make sure no more than 2 shells could go in mag.
