Need a new air compressor. Want advice.

I'm looking at getting a small compressor and after reading the reviews on several of them, I'm no closer to making up my mind on which brand to go with. I'm not looking to spend $300 for one either just want one for occasional use. What say the brotherhood? Any suggestions? Oh and I will just be to air up tires and maybe use a finish nailer once in a while.

If that's all you need most any pancake compressor will probably do. I run a big 60 gal in the garage but have a little porter cable and it works fine.

I have one of those direct drive compressors. It has lasted 8 years so far but it is the loudest type I have ever heard. They may be more quiet now. I think mine is a Black Max.

I was looking at that one. It only has a .33 hp motor. I think it would take forever for it to fill up. I had one before that was a Clarke. It had a 2hp motor and a 4 gal tank. It did well for about 6 months then it went caput.

for what you're wanting to do.....go to Home Depot and get the Porter Cable pancake compressor for $99. When I worked there it would go for $79 during Black Friday. WATCH OUT for the $59 stuff....you get what you pay for! 4 out of the 10 compressor's we sold at that price point was always returned. I called them the disposable compressor's.

The craftsman compressors from Sears are pretty good. I have the 20 gallon and it cost me about $250. Walked out with it for less than $300 with a 3 year warranty to go with it. I've had it over a year, and I've never had a problem out of it.

I spent like 100 bucks on a pancake jobsmart at Tractor supply.. It fills tires, runs nail guns, blows dust out of the shop, ect.. It has been great for the last 3 years..
