I saw a wolf last year while we were out. The locals told me that if you saw a wolf, the elk were not around.

Or did you just apply for the points, and aren't taking into account the $40 fees that will come draw time?

I believe it has to be “last years” license to waive the fee. Good news is that you can still grab a fishing license that is good through March 31 and is “last years.”

Gotcha, Mine was $85 since I did not have a license last year.
$56 for 2017-2018 fishing license
$3 Deer points
$3 Antelope
$3 Elk points
$10 Stamp with license
$10 Stamp for points
Cheaper than the $120 it would have been paying the $40 fees
If my research was right, this was the cheapest way to go when only buying points without having had a license last year.Last edited by 44mAG; 03-15-2018, 12:11 PM.

Question for those of you that have applied for Montana in the past. If Im reading correctly I can buy a preference point from July 1st - Sept 30th correct? Not planning on applying/hunting there for at least a few more years. Just want to start gaining some points.

That's my understanding. Kind of like Wyoming.
