    How's this work exactly

Well... The 5 year old has been bugging me to go hunting, I think we're gonna try tomorrow afternoon with a gun. I don't think he can be quiet enough for bow range. Gonna hunt a feeder out of a pop-up. Anybody have any advice to make this fun for him and maybe keep him entertained??? I remember I drove my dad crazy the first few years with noises, questions, and snoring... So any advice would be appreciated!!!

I would rather be in a stand with one of my kids and no deer around than to be covered up alone. I like to bring an extra set of binos for the kids and crayons are a must, plenty of snacks! Have fun and embrace every moment!

Favorite snacks, books, crayons, video games, extra binos, etc. Keep it short and fun! I love taking my seven year old along. He's been going hunting with me since he was four. Make it a learning experience, explain why you do what you do, show them tracks, trees, whatever else catches their interest and you will have a hunting partner for life!

Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme pies, Little Buddy Peanut bars, water, and cgerry bubble gum (smells like buck candy). If it is the first hunt then you need to start a hunting journal for him and don't forget the camera.

                  Plus all of the above

Pretty much a combo of all the above.

Snacks, video game with ear buds, binos, their own camera, water...

If it's a morning hunt bring a pillow and blanket.

My son and I play Eye Spy (or is it I Spy?) for an hour or so just about every time we hunt together.

I took my son this weekend. We had a blast. Remember when they are done they are done. We only hunted 45 mins Friday night. But we had a good time.

                              That is ideal.
We don't have that option unless we happen to be the only ones at the lease.
My rifle blind is 2 miles from the cabin, I have to ride the 4-wheeler through woods and down the ranch road, so it would surely disturb another hunter if I left the stand early.

There have been a few times that I just gave up hunting and we played games or got out of the stand and walked around our hill top for a bit.
