Some of you guys either aren't reading what he's saying, or you've never hunted small acreage before. Everything he's said, makes it pretty clear that the chances of this buck making it through the year are slim to none. I'm all for good game management, but why let a deer like that walk, only to let someone else shoot it?

Every deer I've ever let walk on small acreage places like this got shot. Matter of fact, a NICE young 8 I let walk last Saturday got shot just the other day by a neighbor, and that was on 500 acres.

No one knows your place better than you. If you're 98% sure he's gonna get shot, do it yourself!

I agree with BowVista -,on other threads some guy's are crying about the 13" AR-so you know this buck would be in the truck bed drivin' round showin off with the tail gate down-he's young and would be a good breeder/future shooter-GOOD LUCK to your son, show us the pics. Management nazi's dont understand small acreage leases, blue collar guy on a lease has to work on X-mas day is gonna pull
      the trigger.

hunt with your boy don't worry about popularity or peer pressure. I took a boy this morning and watched a boy kill his first deer I'm convinced he'll hunt for a lifetime based on his reaction.

I would pass but you certainly should do what is right. I don't think the deer is 2 but he's not mature.

Would be a hard decision for me in that situation.

The only way he could look better would be if he was on the wall. Great deer.

I wasn't being a "Nazi", I saw the first post and thought he was excited to see a great young buck. I missed the posts about small acreage and the day lease next door, but I saw the post about his son going after the buck. I need to read more before I post.

I agree, if the buck doesn't stand a chance to grow up, there's nothing wrong with his son killing him.

Good luck to yall Post some LDP's!

I hope you or your son get to take him. On small places its hard to be in manage mode.

My nazi comment was not aimed at specifically at you - I wish my neighbors would not shoot many I let pass-hopefully your Thanksgiving is a great one.

                            Update

Well we hunted hard but the buck didnt show. I was so heart broken for my son. He wanted that deer so bad ! We did catch a huge boar in our trap with some of the biggest cutters I've ever seen.
