Army guys... I need some clarification....

Robertson Euro Mounts has donated a mount for SPC Keeland Southerland a Wounded Warrior that went on a Hunt this past weekend. I was thinking of making the Plaque resemble his company patch he was a army specalist. From what I have looked up on the internet it is a sheild with an eagle holding arrows. I just wanted to make sure that is what it is. If anyone can help me out. I am going to try and knock this out next week and will post pictures when completed. I am super stoked about this and just hope I can give him a trophy for a life time.

Awesome gesture sir.......That's what makes me proud to be an american and proud to have served my country.That is exactly what a Specialist Rank looks like.Even if your off a bit I'm sure he will be extremely thankful.

Forgot to mention......his unit patch and rank are 2 different things.I'm sure either one will be great.

Look on the base website. They will have a list of crests there and you can copy that. I did mine about four years ago. Hats off to you for doing this sir.

Thats a great idea and I would do his unit or division crest. I was never that attached to my rank when I was in. Now I did have alot of pride in my unit and my division.

I agree that the unit patch and not the rank is the way to go! The sham-shield (the rank of Specialist) has never been a real source of esprit de corps!!

Great gesture but if you go the rank route make note of whether he was a spec. 4, 5, 6 and so on. That does make a difference.

Not anymore. Spc is just a spc. E4, no more spec 5 or 6 or how ever high it went. We havent had that for a while. Not sure when they did away with it but I've only been in 10 years and they got rid of that before I joined.

Yea I think that's a good idea, but like others have said, it would mean more to use his unit crest or patch. Most of us tend to have more pride in our patch than crest FYI.

The soldier likely has several "crests" or distinctive unit insignias to choose from--his battalion, his "regiment" and his division. If you know his unit, then you can look it up via google most likely, or call his unit and speak to his First Sergeant or Company Commander to get the straight skinny.
