Smoking in the stand?

Yep. Last years deer i put down my Droid AND my smoke.

If the deer are up wind I don't worry. I admit I'm an addict but it will keep me in the woods.

Seen a cigarette butt thrown in a pop up for two weeks straight before clients bow hunt and he scored a 160+. Bone Down.

The man that got me started bow hunting used cigs as an attractant. He said they would light one up and stick it in between 2 rocks like a scent wick or something. He swore there was something about the smell of tobacco that deer liked. He has a whole room full of great deer heads.

welli smoke and still hunt, deer are curious by nature they surely know what smoke is but its a common smell to them so most of the time it does not alert them. just like seeing them on a tractor or horse back etc, my biggest buck on public land i was smoking and on the ground 20 yards away and he walked in my direction smoke poled him. so not advisable but when ya gotta smoke ya gotta smoke lol.

I smoke before I go hunting but I am to superstitious to do it while in the stand. I take some Copenhagen.

i tagged out last thursday and then sat with my buddy the next two days to film his hunt. he smokes to and from the stand and most time in between (but not in the stand). we both reeked of cigarettes (something i would never do when im hunting) and we had deer within 15 feet down wind of us with no issues. HOWEVER, we were both running ozonics.....

I smoked a cig then hopped in the tree saturday afternoon. Had 4 deer within 12 yards and they were none the wiser. I didnt smoke in the tree though.

I beleive that you could be dressed in a purple jump suit and kill a deer on a given day, but I also think you might not kill a big deer on any day wearing a purple jump suit.....they are smart animals, why not give yourself the best chance to kill a big deer by not giving them anymore of a chance finding you .....keep all scents to a minimum...! no cigs, no smoke scent, no vanilla....keep the wind in your face but remember a big deer will probably come downwind to check out the station before he comes in, if he suspects anything, he will probably move on.....

I smoke in the pop up and in a tree. I just keep a water bottle with me to put the buts in. I haven't seen a deer blow at me because of the smoke, but I have seen a doe blow at me when I tried to put the but in the bottle. While I'm rifle hunting I don't worry at all about smoking.

Seeing how I am one of those crazy go against the grain guys and smoke all my hunting clothes to the point I smell like I have been at a month long BBQ, I say go for it. Smoke makes a great cover scent.
