    Putting up/Moving stands mid-season

Well the weather man calls for rain this weekend so I am thinking about setting up a popup bling to stay dry and then hunting it the next day.

    Anybody do this?

If you have did the deer spook because of the addition of something new to the area?

A popup, even brushed in real well, can spook a deer. I have though hung a stand and had deer go by with-in hours.

I set a pop-up out this weekend so my son could hunt. He killed a doe from that pop-up on the first sit.

I've never had any kind of changes spook deer. I've sat a ladder I put up that day and had deer come in. Just my experience.

After everyone in your house tonight goes to bed, put a pop-up up in the living room, or in the front yard. If no one notices it, go for it. An old bowhunter told me this a couple of years ago, I agree mostly with it, we go into the Deer woods, their home and make changes they will notice, unless it is really brushed in, in an area they just travel by not through. Leave that pop-up up in the living room for 3 months, it may become an annoyance but it will be part of your daily routine to see it and walk by it, not thinking much about it. JMO

Something new next to a feeder yes, it can spook them, brush it in and your chances are much better. Now go brush one in somewhere and hand corn in front of it and you could have a gold mine. Ive seen blind's set up and deer killed from it in less than an hour.

                  thanks for all the info!

i might go a different route, i found umbrellas for tree stands and that seems like a good option especially cause they are way cheaper

call me a girl but being up in a tree without great rain gear in the cold doesnt sound fun to me

I'm going to hunt another state in a couple of weeks. I am going to set stands depending on weather and wind direction.

are you going to be setting hang-ons or ground blinds?

i feel like hang-ons wouldnt be an issue because ideally deer wouldnt no it/you were there in the first place

I'm going to put out one ground blind and brush it in really well. I may also put up a ladder stand. I don't do hang on stands.

I have killed many deer myself and with kids moving tripods onto scrapelines the day before...works extremely well

We chainsawed branches off of a tree and set up a 2 person ladder stand 15 yards from a feeder. Had deer at the feeder 4 hours later.
