    By eating them.

I don't kill deer out of ignorance or fear. I kill them because they taste good.

I do kill spiders and ants out of ignorance and fear.

Killing spiders and ants and SCORPIONS is not ignorance, more than likely it is fear, but it is also good old fashioned TEXAS common sense!!!

If your going to be an outdoorsman why don't you read up on snakes and educate your self on them so that you don't kill the good ones. Knowledge of the animal and plant life really is a part of being an outdoorsman.
Do you have kids? What would you do if you taught your son or daughter the difference in good and bad snakes and they slipped up once thinking there playing with a good snake and next thing you know your at the ER or worse.

Oh and my son is only 18 months old. I don't think it's time to teach him about good and bad snakes.

You didn't even know what kind of snake you killed. It's you who needs to educate yourself on snakes. We had snakes every where when I was a kid and with five kids in the family, not one of us ever got bit. My parents taught us to stay away from them, not kill them out of ignorance.

They are not "aggressive" at all, but hissing, striking, flattening of the head, and then playing dead are their only defenses.

And FYI, most all snakes fit this profile when it comes to people. They are defensive, not aggressive. They have nothing to gain by being aggressive to a human.
Excuse me but were you there when it was being aggressive? No I dont think so.

I knew exactly what kind of snake it was. And it didn't matter to me if it was good or bad. And it really shouldn't matter to you what I do with the snakes in my yard.

This is crazy. I am so tired of people bashing everyone else whenever there is no reason for it. I thought we were all on the same side, and when i joined this sight however many years ago it was about family and education, not who is right and who is wrong. To me the simple answer would have been what kind of snake it was and maybe a little education, not that it is senseless or what not. Maybe I am just too black and white for most of you. I personally would have killed it because I dont like snakes anywhere around my house. What is so hard about sticking to the rules?

That being said, I'm sure i just broke some kind of rule by posting that. We need to spend more time in the field or with our family, or even at work when it comes to the way we are treating each other

Y'all really make me LOL sometimes. Leave the guy be. Yes, it's a "good" snake, but what's done is done. Maybe next time the ending will be different.

Y'all act like you never killed any horned toads when you were a kid.

There are only 4 snakes around here that will hurt you. mocassin, rattler , copperhead and coral. They are not hard to identify. as far as aggressive, I had a garter snake do his best bluff and if I hadnt known it was harmless, it would have intimated me. All snakes arent bad. Some can really put on a show, cause thats the only defense they have got.
