Look: 12 pointer before and after

In the 2nd picture, notice the black scar on left shoulder:

My 9 year old son and I hunted together opening weekend using my crossbow to shoot this nice 12 pointer at 30 yards from a buddy blind. Unfortunately we hit the buck high and forward, but the good news is that he showed up on our cameras 3 weeks later with a scar on his left shoulder and he nutritionally looks fine.

Did he hit a dead zone?

He will be fine. With that placement infection is the biggest worry and if you saw him 3 weeks later then he is good to go.

Spend a little bit more time on the range and then go get him. Good luck.

As said. He'll be fine. That amount of time and still alive.

I'll go ahead and answer your question.....yes he hit a "dead zone" that contained no vitals that would have caused the deer to die. It's pretty obvious the deer is no worse for wear! Hope yall get another chance to arrow him as it doesn't always work out like this!!
