    Leakey area rut

Buddy just got back tuesday and said there was only minimal movement from the whitetails. He shot a decent axis buck while he was there. Was wo.dering what everyone else was seeing and when do you think the rut will kick off?

I hunt between concan and uvalde and nothing was moving all weekend.
Our rut normally starts towards the end of the first week of December.

Y'all aren't that far away so you should be close to the same time.

I just moved up there from my lease just north of Uvalde near the 8 mile ranch. I figured it would be pretty close to what ive seen in the northern part of uvalde county. I shot my 10 last year in uvalde on dec. 10th. The rut seemed to have just started.

Yeah, I forgot you hunted right by us.

Did you ever see any javies on that lease? I have one on camera at our place. I didn't think there were any in that area.

Never saw a hog or javelina out there. Was told they were around though. The new lease is gonna be a ton of fun. Lots of exotics and whitetail, although ive not seen any whitetail bucks worth mentioning. Those axis can take up the slack though!

We have Lots of hogs, but this is the only Javie I've seen.

            10-4 on the axis!
            Good luck this year.

Good deal. Im going to be there the 20th-25th. Hopefully I will start seeing something with some antlers! Maybe the bucks will be cruising. I believe a front is movi.g thru around that timeframe.

Hunt between Uvalde and Camp Wood. Earlier this week had a lil 6 pushing some doe's. On the 4th of this month my game camera showed some good buck action but pretty much been zero since then. We'll be up there every weekend the rest of the month. It stinks that I may not be there 1st couple weekends in Dec..good luck!!

We hunt in Leakey off of 336 did'nt see much moving last weekend looked like the drought did a number on body size of the deer we seen not that they're big to begin with, we have alot of acorns on the ground so they're not having to move too much for food. Seen a few axis and alot of young whitetail. Normally our rut is around Thanksgiving to the first or second week of December.

Rocksprings. Took a couple of doe's but nothing was moving. Heading back in Dec.

                          Pigs were out though.
