    Duck hunting question

ive been duck hunting for abt 3 yrs but i always hunt the coast. my grandpa lives along the san jacinto river, so i was wonder if it would be legal to take my kayak up the river and hunt from the beach since the river is low? its private property on each side but its out of the city limits, and would it be legal to hunt the creeks that break off the river? would i need a special permit, or just my stamp and migratory game bird endorsment? thanks

brotha that depends on if the land owners own all the way to the water or if there property stops 10 ft back or something. as far as special permits normally you only need that if its corp land or other special permit areas. My biggest concern would be finding out at what point the land owners land stops and then after that figure out who owns the water. If its a water municiple district or the state or a combination of different city's. Its a very tough question to answer.

But with that being said i am a pretty good talker so odds are you were only going to hunt once or twice anyways. I would roll the dice and get er done. *

Stay in the boat. If you can float it, you can hunt it.

Not to hijack but am getting into duck hunting myself, does is matter where the bbs go? I know in a safe direction but does it matter if your shooting up over a bank like it does shooting a bullet over a fence line?

they could own the land that you were standing on next to the river. so waterways let ppl own up the the bank others dont. i know that you cant hunt parts of the trinity by me(doesnt mean i havent). But like death said just stay in the boat. and dont get to close to houses or other structures and you should be fine.

Not true anymore, you're are allowed however to hunt within the river banks. If the river floods and you leave the channel to hunt you are trespassing regardless if you stay in the boat, trust me I know from experience.......

you bb's arent going to go that far for it to matter. if you are outside the distance you have to be from a structure it wont matter. i think its like 150ft or something. just refer to the waterfowl digest or tpwd website.

well i dont stand on the bank, and where i launch is a public boat ramp. And there is no houses, its all woods that a gravel company owns, so i wouldnt have to worry about that. How would i find out if this section of the river is off limits? because i have found ducks!
